Haus Treuburg Country Inn and Cottages, located in Port Hood-by-the-sea, a scenic rural fishing village on the Ceilidh Trail, invites you to enjoy sandy beaches and the warmest waters in eastern Canada.

In our Canadian Heritage home with a European flair you will find very comfortable rooms and a highly rated restaurant which has been featured on "The Great Canadian Food Show". You still can see us on CBC, as they still repeat it.

Each evening enjoy a romantic candlelight four course dinner prepared by Chef Georg. View our unique dining room antiques while listening to the soothing sound of classical music. Treat your taste buds to typical European appetizers, homemade breads, fresh local fish and Georg's specialty - apple strudel!

Every morning a "German Sunday Morning Breakfast" greets our guests and is served on a big table in the cozy bar, although not included in the room rate.

The guest rooms are located on the second floor of the heritage house. Each has an ensuite bathroom and a bright, comfortable and attractively decorated interior.

Three Cottages are nicely positioned on a spacious property and we invite you to leave your footprints on our private beach. Elisabeth's Cottage is in the close proximity. All have a beautiful view of Port Hood Island. You will be in awe of the breathtaking sunset.

Wireless internet is available in every room and also a house computer for your convenience.

Our three cottages each have one bedroom, full bath, a spacious living room with kitchen and a gas barbecue on the large sundeck. Elisabeth's Cottage offers two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen and of course a barbecue on the porch.

All units are equipped with amenities, such as cable TV, VCR or DVD and telephone, all provided for your comfort.

Boat tours are available to explore the two charming and historic offshore islands. Two beautiful sandy beaches close by allow you to stroll along the pristine waters of Cape Breton Island. Relax at our private beach in "Standkörbe" or enjoy an outdoor chess game with life size figures. Hike on the nearby Boardwalk or on a branch of the Trans Canada Trail or visit the nearby Museum. Cabot Links is only 20 minutes away.

The area is the heart of the Gaelic language, Scottish fiddle music and step dancing. Haus Treuburg is a great place to stay and go to the ceilidhs and dances and to celebrate special occasions.

There is one cat on the premise. Mauzer is very shy and prefers the backyard.
